Charged

**Charged** is the adjectival form indicating that a field or other portion of a flag bears a charge. A flag may be described as ‘gules, charged with a crescent argent’ or ‘a horizontal tricolour charged in the centre with the national arms’. The term is the working complement of ‘undefaced’.

**Example**: The central white band of the Mexican flag is charged with the national coat of arms.
