Burgee

A **burgee** is a small, distinguishing flag flown by a yacht to identify the club to which it belongs, or by the commodore of a club to mark his command. Burgees are usually triangular or swallow-tailed and bear the club’s emblem. They are flown at the masthead of a sailing yacht and at the bow staff of a power boat.

**Example**: The burgee of the New York Yacht Club, a red star on a white triangle bordered in blue, is one of the oldest in continuous use.
